Doing Business with the Federal Government & Utilizing the Federal Government's e-Commerce Tools

This course is designed to help those who are seeking or currently doing business with the federal government get paid for the delivery of their goods and services on a timely basis using methods recommended by the federal government.

 

Federal Government Receivables expert, George Reaver, provides 2 - 60-minute information packed videos which provide students with an overview of the federal bureaucracy and payment process. The payment procedures taught in this course should give greater clarity to those new to the federal contracting process as well as provide a greater insight to those who have some experience with it. Also, session 2 deals with lessons on how to use the federal government’s e-commerce tools - tools that will help your company get paid quickly and efficiently.  (In addition, you may download a 100-page PowerPoint Presentation providing more details on these e-commerce tools.)

 

This course covers the following: 


Session 1 Topics:

  • How to administer a federal contract
  • An overview of the federal governmental department structure
  • Contracting rules and regulations
  • Where the major payment dispersing centers are for various agencies
  • The major components necessary for a successful contracting and payment arrangement
  • Invoice processing, including electronic invoicing
  • The disbursement process
  • An explanation of the different types of federal contracts
  • The contract modification process

Major terms will be defined and explained such as:

  • Wide area workflow
  • Federal acquisition regulations
  • Defense federal acquisition regulations

Session 2 Topics:

Sources of the rules for Federal Government Procurement and Payments, such as: 

  • Congressional federal law
  • Federal acquisition regulations (FAR’s)
  • Defense federal acquisition regulations (DFAR’S)
  • Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circulars
  • Grant and contract terms 

What you need to know about Accessing US Federal Government e-Commerce Tools: 

  • Central contractor registration/system award management
  • Electronic contracting files
  • Electronic billing systems
  • Online invoice inquiry systems

This is an On-Demand Course, allowing students to work independently and at their own pace to accommodate the time demands of busy professionals. Upon concluding the presentation/course material, the participant is required to take a final exam. Those who receive a grade of 70% or higher will receive a “Certificate of Professional Development” from the Credit Research Foundation.
